9TH RALLY EDITION: OCTOBER 10 – 19, 2024

#186

Red Canyon Risers

Before the training season for the 2023 Rebelle Rally, Emily and Elle knew of each other but had never crossed paths while on the job or met in person. Over the last few months of training and getting to know each other, the connections have been endless. Both have an impressive lineage of strong women in their families, both love to take on all types of challenges, and both are fueled by optimism. Although their time as Rebelle teammates has relatively been short, if you ever get in the R1T with these two, be prepared to laugh like you’re with friends who have known each other for life.

Favorite Quote:

I have two favorite quotes I think about often and both are from my Papa Sam who was super influential in my life: "Be big" and “Keep your shoulder to the wheel and your nose to the grindstone. It is an awkward position, but it works!”

Fun Fact:

I absolutely love listening to and researching music! I find a ton of enjoyment researching song writers and hearing the stories and inspirations behind the music.

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

I am a believer in lifelong learning and building my life experiences and life resume. I enjoy learning new skills, I live with urgency, and I like to intentionally create experiences that get me out of my comfort zone. When I heard Rivian was accepting applications for Rebelle candidates, I thought “Well my driving skills are average, I have no navigation training, but I do have a good sense of direction and I love maps, and I love competition. So why not?” Immediately, I knew this was an experience I had to chase, and I am so glad I did! Here I am six months later with a new set of skills, new connections, and tons of stories that I didn’t have earlier this year, and this is just the start!

Who, or what, inspires you most?

How much time do we have? I try to find inspiration in everything. My family is by far my greatest inspiration -- my parents, my grandparents, my brother, my nephews, and my friends who have become family. I am inspired by gratitude, color, winning, seeing my people or team win, experiences, traveling to new places, the list is endless.

Greatest adventure to date?

Choosing a career that started in construction management. The doors it has opened and the opportunities that have turned into adventures are more than I could have ever imagined. If I told my 18-year-old self the travels and places I would go, the people I would meet, and experiences I would have, I wouldn’t believe it!

Fun Fact:

After graduating and receiving my commission from the U.S. Naval Academy, I was stationed in Yokosuka, Japan, for about three years. My time was split between my home in Kurihama (with all Tokyo and Kanagawa have to offer) and deployment across the Western Pacific. I attribute those years abroad as some of the most pivotal and defining of my life.

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

Having just received my brand new R1S earlier this year and unsure about the extent of its true capabilities in the wild, I heard that Rivian was putting together teams to represent the company for the 2023 Rebelle Rally and I absolutely had to jump on that opportunity. This seemed like a truly once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to develop new skills in off-roading, learn the ins and outs of our vehicles, and brush up on my navigation skills. Training this year for the Rally has been that and a great deal more. I am beyond grateful for this opportunity and path. I have immense respect and gratitude for my teammates across Rivian who brought these vehicles to life, I’ve built foundations for lifelong friendships, and built out a whole new skillset that I’m able to bring home and share with my family.

Who, or what, inspires you most?

Rainy days, fog, and my family.
