9TH RALLY EDITION: OCTOBER 10 – 19, 2024

#189

Fortune & Glory

Team 189 Fortune & Glory truly started their journey in late fall of 2022. The driver, Amanda Walden, recruited a navigator from her daytime sales advisory role at Accenture and was blessed to pick-up entry fee sponsorship from TSN Off-Road. They began training in late February of 2023 and continued with multiple training sessions throughout the summer.

With just over 40 days left in the preparation for the competition, Amanda found herself without a navigator and realized that what she truly desired in a teammate were those qualities that cannot be readily trained into a human being and are innate within competitive athletes and someone local to her Texas-based home.

Amanda reached out to one of the most dedicated athletes she knew, that had recently retired from professional bodybuilding, and asked if she would be interested in embarking on this amazing journey with her, as she had what it takes and could learn the rest, albeit at breakneck speed.

Jackie Gentry graciously accepted the invitation and dove right into consuming all things Rebelle Rally related. They started training together at Bronco Super Celebration West in Buena Vista, Colorado just a few short days later and gelled almost instantly. By day 3 they found all checkpoints on their training routes in the mountains and were already overcoming fears, fatigue, obstacles and injuries together, as a true team.

This Texas-based duo is rallying to get their final preparations complete on their third teammate, War Pony, their 2-door 2021 Ford Bronco Badlands, and are continuing to train and hone their off-road driving and navigational skills over the next few weeks. Team 189 is beyond excited to see everyone at the starting line in Mammoth, CA next month.

Fun Fact:

I am a former collegiate athlete and musician and in my 30s played two seasons of semi-pro full contact football for the WFA and the IWFL as an Outside and Inside Linebacker for the Carolina Phoenix.

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

I love to compete. I have spent my life finding ways to play hard, push my body and challenge myself. It is in those moments that I find extreme focus and clarity and I crave it. As I have gotten older and my body has been telling me, screaming at times, to pivot from the extreme physical punishment I have put it through in collegiate and semi-pro sports, I have been searching for what's next for me. In 2021 my husband purchased a 6 Gen Bronco and in-turn thrust me into a whole new world of off-roading and rock-crawling, After leading Hells Revenge Trail in Moab at 2022 Bronco Safari with my husband, I was invited to ride along with Loren Healy at SEMA in his 4400 Bronco as he jumped over two drift cars driven by Chelsea DeNofa and Vaugh Gittin Jr. While in line for this amazing experience, I met Bailey Campbell, returning 2023 Rebelle. As we chatted and I shared how I ended up in that line, Bailey shared her story of the Rebelle Rally and being the youngest to ever compete in this amazing competition. She gave me Emily Miller's phone number and I reached out and haven't looked back. I am incredibly excited to embark on this new and wildly exciting adventure and push myself to new heights with this incredible group of women.

Who, or what, inspires you most?

I am most inspired watching others blaze trails into the unknown, over-coming fears and cultivating resiliency in the face of defeat.

Greatest adventure to date?

My greatest adventure to date has been my trek into the off-roading world and industry with my husband and best friend, starting our own small business to bring the outdoors and adventure to everyone, and all the places we have been to and seen, with our Bronco, across the country, in tandem with the journey to my first Rebelle and the off-road driving, recovery and navigation training we have sought out in the last year and a half.

Fun Fact:

I married my high school sweetheart.

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

The opportunity was offered to me to be a part of something incredible and with an incredibly inspiring human and I couldn't pass it up. I recently retired from bodybuilding and was seeking an adventure and gaining new skills. The timing couldn't have been more perfect.

Who, or what, inspires you most?

A person who can go against the grain without fear. I am very close to someone who lives life like there is no tomorrow, has no fear, and sees every moment as an opportunity to learn, evolve and become a better person all while helping everyone around him. That is who inspires me.

Greatest adventure to date?

This past month of August - Due to recently retiring from bodybuilding - I was able to travel with my husband and his work. I traveled to Vegas, Montana, Sturgis, Detroit, Chicago, back to Colorado and then to Moab. It was an incredible trip where I was able to enjoy the outdoors, new foods, higher elevations and new outdoor activities such as hiking and biking. A month I will never forget.
