Amy’s husband worked with Michelle for many years. We started hanging out when the pandemic lockdowns began with virtual happy hours every Thursday. That weekly connection with someone outside of our own houses led to a great friendship and when Michelle mentioned that she was talked into competing in the Rebelle in 2022, Amy asked if she’d ever consider coming back as a privateer team – and the rest is history!

My superpower is giving birth to big sized babies in the middle of snow storms on February 1. My kids were both born (naturally) on February 1 (2011, 2015) in the middle of big snow storms - one in Ohio, one in Michigan. They're our birthday twins. We didn't plan it that way, but it's super fun and special.
Ever since I crossed the start line in 2024, I was hooked. When we crossed the finish line, I knew I had to come back and give it another go.

Finishing the Rebelle Rally in 2024!
2024
Our team calls it the 4 F's: 1) Have Fun 2) Make Friends 3) Finish 4) Don't F*** up the Car
I spend a fair amount of my time outside of work volunteering for Scouting for America as a Den Leader and our Outdoor Activities Chair. I've been volunteering with Scouts for eight years and have been my daughter's Den Leader since she was a Lion (kindergarten). It's been an absolute pleasure and joy to work with these kids, instilling in them a sense of confidence in their community and in the outdoors.
I love cars and from as long as I could remember, I wanted to drive anything with four wheels.
I love that the terrain last year was so different from day-to-day! As a driver, it really kept me on my toes. But my absolute favorite was cruising through Death Valley - it was so quiet, so unique and so different from anything else that we see in the Midwest.
For me, the most challenging part is setting aside the mistakes and moving on. It got much easier as the competition went on, mostly because you don't have the time (or energy) to dwell, but the Rally is just as much mental as it is physical and you have to manage both.
The Rally gave me some confidence back that I thought was lost. It's easy to get caught up in only identifying as what you do for a living, or as Mom or something else. But the Rally gave me back my passion for who I am outside of a 9-5.
I grew up in a big car family and from the time I was little, I would identify people based on their cars long before I remembered their names. When I was learning how to drive, my Dad brought home an H1 (Hummer) for me to learn on. He said if I could drive that tank down the streets of our town and neighboring bigger city, I could drive anything anywhere.
I'm an engineer by day and an advisor for my sorority, partner and family caretaker by night.

The Rebelle Rally!
2022, 2024
Always find basecamp, don't break the car and stay friends!
I love volunteering my time with my college sorority, sharing my journey and experiences with other women in engineering. I love my family and friends and spending as much time as I can with them. I also love crafts and crocheting!
When the map matches the trails. :)
As a navigator, it's challenging to adjusting for changes in the terrain. And the endurance of being mentally and physically on your A-game for 8 days is so tough.
It's a great reminder that I'm tougher and more resilient than I give myself credit for. Whenever I'm having a tough day (outside of the Rebelle), I remind myself that I'm a total bad ass and totally did this cool, crazy thing that most people only dream of or can't begin to understand.
Does the Rebelle count?!
