Carey and Andrea met during the 2021 Rebelle Rally, and are teaming up for the second time this year, proudly being supported by Subaru of America. Adventuring every moment she can since her first Rebelle, Carey is back for her 5th year as the Driver for Team MtnSubi. Her day job is a senior project manager for a public agency, is a proudmom of 2, and is out pushing herself to learn things and share that knowledge with the off-road community. Recently, she began hosting trail runs and skills clinics to the offroad AWDcommunity to show how capable these vehicles are and to ensure basic trail etiquette knowledge is passed along to new trail users. She especially loves supporting women in the offroad community. Andrea Shaffer lives in Las Vegas, Nevada, where she has lived since she was 3. She is a proud mom to 3 kids and works as a Teacher’s Assistant in a 1st grade classroom at her kids’ school, and also has her own business doing vinyl stickers and decals. She has been married to her husband Michael since 2005, and on the weekends they enjoy getting outside with their kids, camping and off-roading. Some of her favorite adventures, besides the Rebelle Rally, have been her trips to Alaska, Canada and Moab. This will be Andrea’s 9th time competing in the RebelleRally. She is an “Original Rebelle”, and has always been the navigator. Carey and Andrea are thrilled to take on whatever challenges the Rebelle Rally has for them this year as Team MtnSubi!

My competition objectives are the same as each prior year: we run our own rally with these priorities in order: 1. Be a good teammate, 2. Help others, and then 3. Be competitive.
I love spending time in big landscapes, from the open deserts, sand dunes, high mountain passes, and deep forests of the western US. I find it greatly fulfilling to push my Subaru to its limits and help others learn about off-roading their AWD.
I walked into Rebelle 2021 with minimal motorsports exposure. The experience pushed me to chase knowledge—about my vehicle, off-road techniques, and the fears I’d avoided. Since then, I’ve fallen into a love of all things off-road and made deliberate, ongoing growth a habit: learning, practicing, and sharpening my approach every season.
Sand dunes! It's the most intimidating terrain, but also the most exhilarating to successfully navigate and conquer. Who can resist making rainbows on the dunes?!
The most challenging part of the Rebelle is when it ends. It's a difficult experience to describe, but it provides a unique opportunity to disconnect from the juggles of life and focus on one set of objectives. The bonds formed during the Rebelle are unlike any other, and the time we spend together is so special.
The rally gave me real self-confidence in learning new things and a habit of continuous improvement. I come back for the ongoing opportunities to test, refine, and expand what I know, plus the camaraderie and feedback from the Rebelle community that keep pushing me to be steadier, smarter, and more resilient.
Teachers Assistant at my kids school. I love being able to be at the same school as my kids and randomly see them throughout the day. I also own my own small business making vinyl stickers and decals.

Pineapple is my favorite pizza topping.
The better question is why not the Rebelle? This year will be my 9th time competing, always as a navigator, and the things I learn and experience each year help mold me into a better person.
Those that never give up. The ones that fight through whatever circumstances life has given them.

Be the best teammate I can. Help others when possible. Then be competitive.

Anything that has aspen trees, those are my favorite!
As a navigator, the hardest part for me is when we wide miss. It has taken me a long time to figure out how to brush it off and move on with the day.
The rally has given me some of my best friends, without whom, I wouldn't be who I am. They push me daily to be a better version of myself. Coming back each year makes me a better wife, mom, friend and coworker.
