Though thirteen years apart in age and raised on opposite coasts, Joy and Kelli Diann have always shared a connection that runs deeper than family ties. Their grandmothers were sisters – Betty, Joy’s grandmother, was the only female police detective in California’s San Fernando Valley during the 1960s, while Louise, Kelli’s grandmother, was a hardworking Virginia farmer with an extraordinary knack for maps and navigation. Those tough, resilient genes live on in Joy and Kelli, shaping the spirit behind their team, Hoot N Holler. Despite their age difference and different upbringings, they grew up kindred spirits. Both inherited a deep love of their roots, a determination to tackle challenges head-on, and a shared joy in forging new traditions together. Today, as teammates and second cousins, Joy and Kelli carry forward the grit, courage, and resourcefulness of Betty and Louise, blazing their own trail in the desert as Team 185: Hoot N Holler.

"If we had some ham, we could have some ham and eggs, if we had some eggs." - Emmett Culley (my dad)
I once spent three years as a celebrity personal assistant - a wild, challenging, and incredibly fun chapter I’ll never forget
About a year ago, a medium told me that a compass kept coming up in her vision for me, which I brushed off as a vague metaphor about life direction. Not long after, I discovered the Rebelle, and suddenly that compass made total sense. I never questioned it!
Oh god, everyone around me! In so many big and little ways. My partner, a vet who saves lives every single day, including mine! My mom who had brain cancer and saw herself as a Gryffindor which was so true. My grandmother who was a police detective in the 1960s in Los Angeles. My dad, who has the best sense of humor and is so clever. My dog, who is the ultimate optimist and is always just waiting for the next best thing. My friends who have all shown me pieces of what it looks like to live your best life.

LIFE!
I’m not a naturally competitive person, but I do love setting a high bar for myself and proving I can finish hard things. My goal is always the same: do my best and have fun doing it. To me, that’s a win even if it’s not on the podium.
When I’m not working, you’ll probably find me chasing adventures - RVing, off-roading, camping with my partner, Amy and our dog, or taking flight on an international trip. Back at home, I dabble in woodworking, strum on my guitar, and dive into DIY projects. I also love pitching in on community outreach projects when I can.
No pro racing resume here - just a love of off-roading, exploring, and pushing myself to new limits. Figuring things out on the fly is part of who I am, and I hope to carry that spirit along with a strong commitment to building community into (and out of) the Rebelle.
I couldn’t think of an answer for this one so I asked my friends, and they answered for me. According to them, I’ve built four businesses, served on my city's architectural review board, delivered Meals on Wheels, mastered the art of canning dilly beans, and designed 7 parade floats. They also reminded me of some of the wilder moments: swimming in the rain in Mexico with Brandi Carlile, riding my bike 500 miles for AIDS Lifecycle, playing in an all-woman band for the National Center for Lesbian Rights, hosting ladies’ nights at gay bars, hiking Havasupai, and breaking into a Scottish castle barefoot in the rain. Turns out, my “cool experiences” are best told by the people who’ve lived them with me.
Oh, so many! I wanted to drive so badly that I got my license on my 16th birthday and never looked back. Before that, my only “off-road” experience was high-siding my grandma’s ’69 Dodge Dart on her farm when I was 12, and figuring out how to get it unstuck before anyone realized I’d taken it for a spin. Driving has truly been one of my greatest joys!

I love to grow garlic!
Why not now? When Joy asked me if I would go on this adventure with her, I had to say yes.
My sweet wife will be watching the rally from home, 8 months pregnant with our first baby. That little human inspires me every day, to create the world I want to give it. The two of them are my biggest cheerleaders

Joy and I are both in this thing to have a meaningful experience; learn, grow, fail, and rise again. I can’t wait to meet who I am on the other side of this Rally.
I’m a board member of the Washington State Farmers Market Association - an org dedicated to supporting and promoting vibrant and sustainable farmers markets in Washington State through member services, education, and advocacy. I also love to roller skate and paint!
I’ve always enjoyed backroad driving in the hollers of West Virginia. It’s a muscle memory you acquire, knowing the curves of the roads.
In 2023 I was featured in 425 Magazine’s 40 Under 40 edition for my work in community building at the farmers market.
My dad owned a body shop and focused on paint. I remember so many Sunday drives in his blue and silver 1986 Chevy Silverado. I know his spirit will be with us along the rally reminding us, “No matter where ya go, there ya are.” Ha!
