10TH RALLY EDITION: OCTOBER 8 – 18, 2025

Melissa Clark

Driver

I'm a person that gives 100% to things I love and that includes hobbies, work, family, pets, and friends. As I've gotten older I find that experiences are worth more than money and try to spend much of my life living.

What is your occupation and what does that mean to you?

My husband and I have a business called BAM Adventures and through that, we contract with Ford and other marketing companies to guide, write articles, instruct and drive Broncos, Bronco Sports, and other Raptor trucks. We also offer independent guiding for groups in Nevada, Colorado, Baja, and Moab.

Residence:

Fruita, CO

If you attended college or University where did you go and what was your major?

Indiana University BSN, University of Phoenix Master's in Nursing

Favorite Quote:

Proceed until apprehended. Or, it's better to ask forgiveness than permission.

Fun Fact:

This year, we've had the opportunity to drive off-road with the COO of Ford Motor Company in Johnson Valley and then the CEO of Ford in Moab. Really cool opportunity to see executives out there understanding how enthusiasts use the vehicles they manufacture.

Why the Rebelle? Why now?

It's the 10th year and my 10th Rally. I had to make it this year for sure!

Who, or what, inspires you most?

Every year, it seems that someone inspires me differently. This year, it's a shout out to my brother who lost his wife to cancer a few years ago. He fell in love this year with an amazing woman that I'm thrilled to now call sister. They came to Moab a couple of months ago to get married and allowed us to plan the details, even including an off-road destination wedding site that they had never seen. I haven't always been close to my brother and we even had some years that we didn't speak to each other but now we are so close. I'm so proud of Stephen Terry and so happy for the love he and Pamela found later in life.

What are your competition objectives and why?

Always in it to win it but I also ride the Rally in a state of gratitude. I'm SO thankful for all the opportunities I've had to be able to participate from physical to financial and skill development. Also to see the hidden splendors of America along with funky desert art and spectacular scenery that makes this all so amazing.

What makes you tick, outside of work?

We love off-roading and camping. When not working, you'll find us out on the trails or camping off-grid in our truck camper with our two puppies. The lines of our lives are blurred because we are working and playing in the same space, it's awesome!

What is your background in motorsports, and how does that shape how you're approaching the Rebelle?

I started off-roading in 2004 and started building my Jeep in 2006, moved to Moab in 2008. Moved up to a rock crawler and later a buggy. Started competing in the Rebelle Rally in 2016. Began driving for Ford in 2021 and have just kept driving and instructing others in driving off-road.

What kind of cool experiences do you have outside of the Rebelle?

This year, we obtained permits and were able to guide a group on a Gold Mine and Ghost Town tour through some of the areas we've been to on Rally. We even had lunch with Mayor Walt in Gold Point and soaked in Fish Lake hot springs.

Which terrain is your favorite part of the course and why?

Oh man. Sand is scary and hard. I personally love Johnson Valley the best though. Terrain? Give me rocks any day.

What is the most challenging part of the Rally for you?

Most years, I've had a new co-driver each year, which was challenging. This year, I have Kathryn again and am so stoked! But this year, I have 37" tires so have worked hard on a process for a 55 year old woman to be able to change a tire on the trail. (Fingers crossed we won't have to)

How has the rally changed you and what made you want to come back?

In 2016, I was a nurse working in the medical device industry working with surgeons and nurses in the operating room. I made a lot of money but had limited time off. In 2025, I own my own company with my husband Brian and we work and play off-road with Broncos. I make a little money but have unlimited time off. I highly recommend this route, totally worth it.

Do you have any memorable moments with cars?

From childhood, I remember my older brother and sister letting me drive their cars when I could barely reach the pedals (they were teenagers when I was born). I couldn't wait to get my driver's license and have always loved the freedom that driving provides.

What are your competition objectives and why?

While I love exploring and seeing new sites; I am a fierce competitor and I want to attack each day with thoughtful strategy and goals. This is my fourth time competing and I want to give it my all every single day.

What makes you tick, outside of work?

I don't have a lot of free time for myself; honestly Rebelle is my time for just me. It's something I look forward too. Most of my time I am supporting my kids in travel baseball, flag football, honors education and finding new places to travel to.

What is your background in motorsports, and how does that shape how you're approaching the Rebelle?

I have worked in the automotive aftermarket industry my entire career. It's always been my passion, it's what I have always wanted to do and when I was younger, I was able to compete in drag and road course racing. When I heard about Rebelle it was something I knew I could do, but now involving my off-road desires. I am a competitor at heart and when I set my sites on a goal, I'm like a bulldog and I don't back down.

What kind of cool experiences do you have outside of the Rebelle?

I love to travel and see the wonders of the world. I only have 2 continents left to visit and I like to immerse myself into the local culture do the things they are best known for.

Which terrain is your favorite part of the course and why?

My favorite terrain are the hills and elevation. I love seeing sites from different angles and viewpoints.

What is the most challenging part of the Rally for you?

The most challenging part of the Rebelle Rally is staying focused and locking in every day. It's a marathon not a sprint and you have to be ready to take on each day with a vengeance.

How has the rally changed you and what made you want to come back?

The rally is one of the hardest things I have ever completed. No year is the same, the course changes and so do the challenges. It draws a lot of similarities to life and how to be resilient no matter what is thrown at you. It's made me a better spouse, a better friend, a better parent and it gave me the courage to start my own business and do the hard things afraid.

Do you have any memorable moments with cars?

I have always been interested in cars. I saved up money for an entire year to buy my first car; it was brand new and yet I wanted to modify and personalize it right away. My parents didn't understand why I wanted to modify the car, but I saw it as customizing and improving and changing the performance to stand out and win. That first car changed everything for me. It was the moment I knew I could do this not only as my passion but get paid to do this as a career.
