Behind the Brand - Rebelle Rally

When we decided to build a world-class car rally, we knew we needed a brand to match and a world-class team. Enter Aaron Justus. Aaron is a top-notch creative that Rally Founder Emily Miller has worked with on various client projects for almost 18 years.

Aaron not only has an exceptional aesthetic, his roots are forged in motorsports – racing pavement and open wheel since he was a kid. Competing and winning against some of the world’s best, he began in karting, and continued to move up. Aaron captured the USF2000 National Championship title, provisional pole at the Long Beach Grand Pix, and wins at Road Atlanta, Road America, Watkins Glen, Phoenix Int’l Raceway, Indianapolis Raceway Park, and Lowe’s Motor Speedway. He was a member of top teams including Forsythe Racing, Cape Motorsports, and RuSPORT.

“It has been a great ride working with Aaron. We have a fun brother-sister type relationship and I’ve grown through the process. We always work hard to get to the right result for the project. It started in motorsports and has spanned a lot of industries including cycling, skateboarding, product development & engineering, underwater cinematography, and for the past 10 years, Rebelle. I always trust Aaron to treat the brand as if it were his own,” noted Emily Miller.

Frustrated with the politics and funding of racing, Aaron took his creative skills to work with some of the world’s top teams designing the most stunning team liveries and motorsport graphics. From the distinctive Rebelle color palette and Rebelle blues to the badge logo, Rebelle U, Art of Rebelle, Impact, to our bold and unique designations, Aaron has made sure Rebelle stands apart from the crowd.

We caught up with Aaron for a special interview from behind the Rebelle Brand.

3 New Michelin Stars for Chef Drew Deckman!

Congratulations are in order to our Chef, Drew Deckman! Drew, a pioneer of the farm-to-table movement in Mexico, has been an integral part of the Rebelle Rally staff since our inception. On the Rebelle, he is known for his unforgettable meals that fuel our entire team, competitors, and guests. Amazing given his extremely packed schedule.

May marked the inaugural launch of the Michelin Guide and awards in Mexico. Drew and his wife Paulina were awarded a total of three Michelin stars for their exceptional work. Their flagship restaurant, the popular Deckman’s en el Mogor located in the famed Valle de Guadalupe, earned a green star, an annual distinction that highlights restaurants committed to sustainable practices. Conchas de Piedra, also located in Valle de Guadalupe, received both a green star and a red star. Drew’s dedication to sustainability and culinary excellence continues to inspire us all.

We can’t wait to see what the future holds for you, Drew! And for those residing in San Diego, your culinary experience is about to get even better—Drew is opening a new restaurant, 31THIRTYONE by Deckman’s, in the North Park area next month!

What’s Up at Renewable Innovations

Renewable Innovations, longtime partner of the Rebelle Rally, is making waves and on the move with their hydrogen-powered Mobile Power Generator (MPG)! The Utah-based company, an industry leader in hydrogen-powered renewable energy, has been showcasing this innovative device that provides remote power and rapid charging, turning heads at major events. Most recently at the ACT Expo in Las Vegas, they demonstrated how the MPG, fueled by 40 kg of hydrogen, delivers clean energy efficiently and safely on the go. As grid independent power experts, they are innovating new solutions for our data, AI and EV hungry world. They also made a splash at the King of the Hammers earlier this year, highlighting their cutting-edge technology. Plus, they kept our Rebelle Rally basecamps green and our EVs charged and ready. Renewable Innovations continues to lead the way in the future of energy – walking the walk!

Team Feature: High Mile Club

Meet Team High Mile Club: Emma Debany and Nicole McCammon, rookies in the 2024 Rebelle Rally. Despite being newcomers, they’re anything but unprepared. It all started with a text between the two good friends after seeing stories from the 2023 Rebelle. Without hesitation,  they dove head first into planning and training. They started by reading the official Rebelle Rally regulations (music to our ears!) and watching countless rally videos posted on YouTube and other platforms. Their commitment was cemented during a road trip to Seattle, where they bonded over long hours on the road.

One of the best way to stay safe and perform off-road is not in the moment but in the preparation. Some of the biggest mistakes and problems can be prevented by compiling a pilot-like checklist of gear, pre-planning routes and preparing gear, route files and mapping, and most important – prepping your vehicle. Routine maintenance, tire checks and attention to detail on the systems of your vehicle can prevent problems that often bite people hard on trail. Don’t skip the work it takes to prepare! #PresentedbyPennzoil #LongMayWeDrive

Parting Quote

“The Rebelle Rally is successful because it has meaning. The Rebelle stands for something. The Rebelle is deliberate in who it supports or partners with. The Rebelle cares. As a result, it attracts meaningful people. I would want my daughter to approach her career this way.” –Aaron Justus, Rebelle Graphic Designer & Former Professional Racecar Driver
