July 29, 2021 (Reno, NV) – The Rebelle Rally is proud to announce that onX Offroad has joined their top notch group of partners that include best-in-class innovators. “The onX App has been a game changer when I am setting the rally course,” Rebelle Rally founder Emily Miller revealed. “This year we have exciting new routes starting with Tech Inspection at the Hoover Dam. The ability to determine land ownership in real-time has removed the guesswork from determining where the route can go, and identifying designated ones is simplified. Also, where we travel is often so remote there is no cellular connectivity, and the offline mapping function is exceptionally easy to use.”
onX is relatively new to the off-road market, but they have been a mainstay in the hunting world for the past decade, with land ownership information being just one of the distinctions that sets them apart from other mapping apps.
The same framework used for hunting was applied to the off-road market and customized for their unique experiences, including the ability to filter trails by vehicle type, create waypoints to share with friends, and upload KML and GPX files before hitting the trail. Maps are color-coded to show land boundaries such as private parcels, state forests, and BLM land, and can be viewed as detailed satellite imagery, topography, or a hybrid of both. Maps can also be downloaded ahead of time and are fully interactive without cell service. onX also recently added 3D maps using robust technology from longtime Rebelle partner Mapbox; just one of the many ways that they have been innovating to provide subscribers with the most useful information available.
“The Rebelle Rally is one of the most respected off-road competitions in the world, and map navigation is critical to its success,” explained Jenny Sheets, onX Offroad’s Vertical Marketing Specialist. “As the leading off-road navigation App on the market, we’re thrilled to be partnering with the Rebelle. While competitors aren’t allowed to use GPS on the course, onX Offroad is there for the participants as they prepare for the rally and long after, as a trusted tool for all their off-road adventures.”
Like Rebelle checkpoints, the trails in onX Offroad are color-coded. Green trails are open, red trails are temporarily closed (usually for seasonal closures), and blue are Featured Trails, with detailed descriptions, photos, difficulty ratings, and more.
Yearly subscriptions for onX Offroad’s complete functionality are an exceptional value. The App works on iPhone and Android devices, and those with an account can log in online at www.onxmaps.com. Your subscription provides access to 550,000 miles of trail and map data in all fifty states.
Whether you are a current Rebelle Rally competitor, dream of someday participating in the rally, or want to retrace the course, onX Offroad helps you sharpen your navigation skills of charting distances and waypoints, recognizing topography and geographic features, and orienting in new territory. “Our shared goal is empowering people,” Miller noted. “Whether that means finding your way on the perfect trail, to a remote surf break, or unplugging for eight days of competition.”
The Rebelle Rally offers online and in person GPS app classes as part of Rebelle U navigation training courses. Check www.rebellerally.com for more information.
