Top Ten Things You Didn’t Know About The Rebelle Rally

November 24th, 2025

Think you know the Rebelle Rally? Think again. From why we use kilometers to how off-grid EV charging actually works, this list dives into what makes the Rebelle unlike any other adventure motorsport event in the world.

  1. It Was Founded to Change the Game.
After years in motorsports, founder Emily Miller noticed she was often the only woman in races – women were never behind the wheel and almost always on the sidelines. She created the Rebelle as a platform where women could compete, lead, and shine. When she had the idea, everyone told her it could not be done in the U.S. Too many permits, too many roadblocks, too much red tape for a long-distance off-road rally in America. She proved them all wrong and as the old saying goes, “If it were easy, everyone would do it.”

  2. It’s an Extreme Outdoor Endurance Event.
This isn’t a “glamping” rally. Teams camp every night, enduring temps in the backcountry from 10° mornings to 115° afternoons. Yes, there are showers, but when time management is a crucial part of the game, many competitors opt out.

  3. The Rally Runs on an All-Star Staff.
The Rebelle isn’t just competitors in the desert. It takes a staff of 120+ people to make it happen, and every single one is personally chosen and approved by founder Emily Miller.

  4. Many Competitors Start with Zero Experience.
You don’t need to be a pro driver or navigator. Many women enter having never done either before the Rebelle.

  5. Partners Are Hand-Picked.
The Rebelle only works with companies whose gear, vehicles, or values the team genuinely uses and believes in. Authenticity over logos.

  6. Kilometers
We get told all the time: “This is America, use miles!” Here’s why we use kilometers:
    • On a 1:100,000 scale map, 1 cm = 1 km which makes map math simple.
    • Kilometers are shorter than miles, easier to gauge by eye, and meters are easier to pace on foot than feet.
    • Most rally odometers measure to the hundredth of a kilometer (10 meters) which is key for nailing those tricky black diamond checkpoints.
    • Worldwide rally and navigation standards use the metric system, so the Rebelle does too.

  7. Stock Vehicles Don’t Just Survive, They Thrive.
Plenty of podiums go to unmodified SUVs and trucks straight off the dealer lot.

  8. EVs and Hybrids Have Their Own Off-Grid Charging.
Thanks to Renewable Innovations, the Rebelle uses mobile charging stations in the middle of nowhere and green power solutions for basecamp. This year, Renewable Innovations partnered with Toyota to take it even further, demonstrating the integration of Toyota’s hydrogen fuel cell generator into their Mobile Microgrid system. The collaboration powered the final evening gala at basecamp with clean, quiet hydrogen energy, showing what scalable, sustainable power looks like when it’s truly put to the test, off the grid and off the map.

  9. Community is Part of the Design.
It is competitive, but also collaborative. The rally builds a network of women supporting each other through one of the toughest challenges of their lives.

  10. The Transformation is the Point.
The Rebelle isn’t just about checkpoints. It is about proving to yourself what you can endure, achieve, and redefine.
